Isabel’s Chance made a $10,000 donation to fund a BPAN-focused team of riders in Penn Medicine’s Million Dollar Bike Ride, helping to push the team up and over a $30,000 threshold needed to qualify for a $30,000 match from the university… twice over.
What is the Million Dollar Bike Ride?
Penn Medicine’s Orphan Disease Center hosts an annual Million Dollar Bike Ride.
The Million Dollar Bike Ride brings over 800 cyclists and volunteers to Penn’s campus to ride either 13, 34, or 72 miles starting in the city, and ranging across the Greater Philadelphia region. It raises millions of dollars for rare disease research and specifically for those diseases which registered teams represent.
In 2023, the BPAN focused team raised over $120,000 for BPAN research. In the past, this event has funded researchers that include an institution in France where they are working on establishing autophagy inducers as novel therapies in cellular and animal BPAN models.
